Labour run council push to rename the Gladstone Park in London to Diane Abbott Park.

As part of a study of slavery by a Labour-run council in the capital, a park named for William Gladstone could be renamed Diane Abbott Park.

In 1899, Gladstone Park in north west London was named after the former Prime Minister.

However, the name of the London park may change in 2022 after Brent council requested youngsters aged five to thirteen to come up with a shortlist of rebranding proposals.

According to The Telegraph, Ms Abbott’s name is among the proposals, along with BAME Park, Multi-faith Park, and Diversity Fields.

In the aftermath of the Black Lives Matter movement, the project aims to confront “injustice, discrimination, and racism.”
