Speaker Lindsay Hoyle accepts opposition MPs request for a vote on whether to send Boris Johnson to the parliamentary committee to see if he misled MPs over partygate.

Boris Johnson will face a vote in the Commons on whether or not allegations that he misled MPs on partygate should be submitted to a parliamentary committee.

Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle allowed opposition MPs’ request for a vote, which will take place on Thursday.

It comes as the PM prepares to address Parliament for the first time since being fined last week for breaking his own government’s social distance guidelines after being present in his own office being wished happy birthday by his workers.

The committee might look into whether Mr Johnson mislead MPs when he first said that no rules had been breached when allegations about parties in Downing Street appeared.
