Chairman of Migration Watch criticises the report that only 2% of migrants who cross the Channel will be sent back to Rwanda.

With the Refugee Council claiming only 2% of migrants who cross the Channel will be sent to Rwanda due to being judged “inadmissible”, Migration Watch Chairman Alp Mehmet states that figure isn’t completely accurate and questions its foundations as the number is being produced by the Refugee council who want to undermined the Governments plan.

Alp stated that though the governments plan is a step in the right direction the plan to send migrants who cross the channel illegally to “Rwanda is not going to be the solution.”

“The deal will depend on the amount of backbone the Government has. The announcement itself hasn’t acted as a deterrent.”
