CLASHES – Tens of thousands of protestors flocked to the streets throughout France on May Day.

Following the presidential election last week, tens of thousands of protestors flocked to the streets throughout France on May Day.

Protests against freshly re-elected President Emmanuel Macron were spearheaded by labour unions and student organisations, who demanded greater pay, support for public services, and more climate-friendly policies.

A mass mob of Antifa, clad in black with red flags, clashed with Paris police, after they smashed up shops and set fire to them in the center of Paris.

Demonstrators smashed bank windows and spray-painted anti-capitalist slogans on a McDonald’s, as police shot tear gas.

Gérald Darmanin, the interior minister, claimed “thugs” were committing “unjustifiable violence” and pledged his “whole support for police.”
