As Liz Truss implements a strategy to free Britain from the dreaded Brexit legislation, the EU is “expecting the worst” in regards to the Northern Ireland Protocol.

Meanwhile, the UK and EU have been embroiled in a bitter dispute over the Northern Ireland Protocol that has led to a plethora of problems in the region, including product shortages, delays, and an overall hike in prices.

As of October 2021, the United Kingdom and the European Union have been engaged in negotiations, with the UK threatening to suspend sections of the deal by activating Article 16.

A threat to take unilateral legislative action and thereby suspend the protocol has been made most recently.

According to Irish writer Tony Connelly, when it comes to the EU’s impending discussions with London, which begin next week, the EU is “expecting the worst” and expects London to “go all in” and “completely rewrite the protocol.”

He added that the other member nations are feeling “Frustration” and “outrage”.
