During the Brexit EU referendum campaign, Nicola Sturgeon said leaving the EU would mean turning our back on our friends in Europe and the world. It would mean we would be lifting up the drawbridge and becoming an isolationist nation [little Englanders] for wanting self-governance.
In a recent interview with a BBC host, because of Nicolas’s past words, she now looks like a massive hypocrite.
When asked about why Scotland wanted to separate itself from the United Kingdom, SNP’s Nicola Sturgeon responded by saying: “That’s not what independence [for Scotland] is. Its not about separating ourselves, its not about turning away from the rest of the UK, or Europe, or the world. Its about self-government. “
“It’s about the root to Scotland playing a bigger, more constructive part in the world and in defending those values of liberal democracy which really need defending right now.”
“So independence is an internationalist project, its about looking outwards.”
“The thing that has separated Scotland in recent years, that has turned Scotland completely against our will, inwards, is Brexit. We’ve been taken out of the European Union.”
People are now wondering why it is not acceptable for the United Kingdom to seek self-government but it is OK for Scotland to do so.
