GB News host Tom Harwood slammed the government during a Question Time debate after politicians on the QT panel dodged a question about what can be done immediately to bring down the cost of fuel as it continues to spiral out of control.
Tom Harwood didn’t hold back, exposing that “46% of the money spent on petrol is tax”.
Tom said: “46% of the money spent on petrol is tax. 46% of every pound that is spent on the petrol you buy is taken by the state. Taking 5% off fuel duty is nothing. I mean, even European countries are doing far more than that. Doing 20%, ect.”
“It’s extraordinary that the politicians on this panel so far have not been able to say that the chancellor, instead of taxing people here and then spending money there, giving 50 billion there, giving 57 billion there, as if spending more taxpayers money unfunded, as it is, will do anything to assuage inflation in this country, which is a monetary phenomenon.”
“It’s extraordinary that politicians, instead of wanting to take cash from some places and put it there and move it around and slosh it about and inflate the whole price in the process.”
“Why don’t politicians just stop taking so much money from the cost of fuel in the first place? They could halve the price of fuel if they stopped taking cash from it.”
This ended in a round of applause from the audience.
