A 58-year-old former Labour supporter who now views the Conservative Party as the only viable option, believes that Sir Keir Starmer is “absolutely crap.”
Speaking to the Express about the Tory leadership contest, Nancy, a Londoner, came out and said she “would vote Labour” if Sir Keir were not the party’s leader. She continued, “I don’t trust him.
With Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak as her only options, Nancy is certain: “I would go for Rishi Sunak, definitely.”
According to a YouGov poll of Tory members released on Thursday, Ms Truss leads Mr Sunak in the race by a 62 percent to 38 percent margin.
But because of the past, Nancy can not support the 46-year-old South West Norfolk MP. She said that Liz would be like another Margaret Thatcher. It isn’t good.
There have been many unwarranted comparisons to the Iron Lady, according to Ms Truss.
The foreign secretary implied that comparing oneself to the previous prime minister was sexist and denied that she had been modelling herself after him.
She said it is rather aggravating because male politicians aren’t compared to Ted Heath, whereas female politicians are constantly compared to Margaret Thatcher.
Then, she emphasised: “I am my own person,” when appearing on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.
“I’m from a very different background. I grew up in Yorkshire. I went to a comprehensive school. I am somebody who has worked all my life to get things done. And that’s what I want to do in the job.”
