Rishi Sunak in hot water after stating he diverted funding from “deprived urban areas” to places like Tunbridge Wells.

Rishi Sunak, a potential candidate for the Tory leadership, has told party members that he should be prime minister because he diverted funding from “deprived urban areas” to places like Tunbridge Wells.

According to the former Chancellor, the party “inherited funding formulas from the Labour party that shoved all the funding into deprived urban areas. That needed to be redone and I started the work of doing that.”

The remarks were captured on tape that the New Statesman magazine released.

He stated, “I managed to change the funding formulas so areas like this are getting the funding they need because we inherited funding formulas from the Labour Party that shoved all the funding into deprived areas. That needed to be undone and I started to do it.” Source
