The future prime minister should fully blame Putin for the energy problem, according to Tory MP Nadhim Zahawi.
According to reports, the current UK Chancellor wants to shift blame for the present energy problem from the Tories to Putin and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
This is taking place at the same time as the Labour leader is urging a brief six-month energy price freeze in the hopes that it would help people get through the winter. Even if it could be helpful in the near term, the opposition does not have a long-term strategy for resolving this situation.
While the Tory leadership contest proceeds throughout the summer, Labour’s present approach seems to be a front to appear to be doing something.
Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss have both been pushed by Mr Zahawi to remind people why we are in the current situation once they are at No10. According to Nadhim, the present issue is the result of sanctions against Russia that were put in place as retaliation for Putin’s entry into Ukraine. Source
