Rangers are set to avoid any disciplinary action despite defying Uefa’s orders not to play the national anthem before their Champions League game against Napoli. Story by INews
Uefa received requests from clubs to sing the anthem before kick off as a mark of respect with the nation in mourning following the Queen’s death. But the governing body turned them down, stating that clubs should instead hold a minute’s silence instead.
Rangers decided to thwart the order at Ibrox but Uefa has decided not to take any further action.
A Uefa spokesperson told i : “The incident you refer to is not the subject of any Uefa disciplinary proceedings.”
