The North Area Basic Command Unit’s PC Hussain Chehab is charged with a total of 13 offences. He was detained in July 2021, according to a Scotland Yard official, and charged on Tuesday.

PC Chehab is charged with five counts of making indecent images of children, taking indecent images of children, engaging in sexual contact with a child, distributing indecent images of children, and encouraging or assisting in the distribution of indecent images of children, in addition to four counts of sexual activity with a girl between the ages of 13 and 15.

The alleged crimes are said to have taken place between 2019 and 2021. On Tuesday, in the late afternoon, he was scheduled to appear in court at Highbury Corner. The Metropolitan Police said that PC Chehab had been suspended from duty and that the Directorate of Professional Standards had been notified.

The police chief for the North Area Command Unit, Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Haines, stated: “We recognise that this news will cause concern within the community and we have fully engaged with our local partners throughout this investigation.”

“The Met has announced a comprehensive review of its standards as part of a genuine commitment to rebuild trust but I understand that developments such as this undermine that work.”

“We would encourage anyone who has concerns about the actions of any of our officers to report them to us immediately.”
