Treasury insider confirmed Jeremy Hunt knew about the planned fuel duty increase but chose to remain quiet during his autumn statement

After his intentions for a fuel tax rise were revealed, Jeremy Hunt tried to quickly backtrack, claiming that the anticipated increase was not government policy. This does not rule out the possibility of a rise in the future, particularly after a Treasury source said that Jeremy Hunt signed off on the plans knowing the increase was in the paper but opted to sneak it in by being mute on the subject.
