MP states it’s 'Woke nonsense' as Parliament staff asked whether their dads identify as men or women

MP states it’s ‘Woke nonsense’ as Parliament staff asked whether their dads identify as men or women

Workers in Parliament will be required to reveal the gender identification of their parents under new rules, which one member of Parliament, Brendan Clarke-Smith, has called “woke nonsense.”

Applicants for a Westminster security pass must now supply their parents’ names, nationalities, and birthdates.  Applicants must state whether their fathers and mothers are male or female.

“Female,” “male,” or “other” are the only options on the application, according to MailOnline.

Unnamed parliamentary staff found it strange to be asked what sex their biological father identified with on the security form.

The employee said, “How could it possibly make sense to ask that question?”

“Is there a reason my mother or father’s gender would affect my security clearance?” they asked.

Tory MP Brendan Clarke-Smith said, “Staffers may assume this is a psychometric test, not a genuine issue.

“I’m not sure how somebody’s father self-identifies is really relevant on a security check either. It’s tick box meets Pandora’s box.”

A House of Commons spokeswoman stated, “Parliament has a range of robust security vetting procedures, based on good practise and ensuring a consistent approach, however, we do not comment on the specifics of our security processes.”
