At the Home Office, Suella Braverman vows war on “politically correct nonsense.”

At the Home Office, Suella Braverman has declared war on “politically correct nonsense” after staff members were told not to use the term “homosexual” at an internal event.

Following the incident, Ms Braverman requested a review for employees of the Homeland Security Group earlier this month.

As part of a 12-slide presentation on gendered language, attendees had been instructed not to use the terms “homosexual” and “transsexual” or to refer to one another as “mate.”

Ms Braverman, however, disassociated her department from the advice and is said to have been displeased with the lecture on the “right” language for staff members to use.

According to a Home Office insider who spoke to The Telegraph, “The Home Secretary has made her views very clear – she doesn’t want to see this kind of politically correct nonsense in the department.”

“How can the word ‘mate’ be a problem between colleagues? There’s been a review of what happened, and officials understand what’s to be expected in future.”

The Guido Fawkes website said that the conversation, which took place during business hours, also advised government officials to wear rainbow lanyards, add personal pronouns in email signatures, and join the LGBT Civil Service network.

As a member of the home affairs committee and the Tory representative for Ashfield, Lee Anderson stated: “I genuinely think that there are a tiny minority of out of touch Home Office managers in made up jobs that lay awake at night thinking up solutions to problems that do not exist.

“They need to concentrate on serving the British taxpayer rather than their own ridiculous ideology.”
