Political Rift Turns Physical: Tory Deputy Chairman and Remainer Protester Agree to Boxing Match for Charity

A boxing match between Tory deputy chairman Lee Anderson and Remainer protester Steve Bray is set to be televised, as the two have agreed to settle their differences in the ring. GB News is currently in talks to host the bout, which will be for charity.

Mr Anderson has referred to Bray as “a public nuisance” and has challenged him to a boxing match after a clash outside Westminster where Anderson stole Bray’s hat. After initially rejecting the challenge, Bray has now accepted, and GB News has moved quickly to secure the rights to air the fight.

In an interview, Bray took an early jab at his opponent, saying that Anderson’s appointment as deputy chairman would be “one of the final nails in the coffin.” He also revealed that he works with coins and pays taxes.

The two have different terms for the match: Anderson has said that if he wins, Bray must stop protesting, while Bray wants Anderson to resign as a Tory MP and “vanish” if he wins. Anderson has offered to join Bray in protests if he loses, but Bray is not interested, saying that he does not want Anderson “anywhere near me.”

Despite the agreement, Anderson is skeptical that Bray will follow through, saying “he won’t accept, pal.” However, GB News editorial director Mick Booker is excited about the fight, calling it the “Rumble in the Westminster jungle between Lionheart Lee and Shouty Steve” and suggesting that a ring could be set up by the Thames in Westminster for a “Thrilla by the River!”
