In a potentially damning revelation, a whistleblower has alleged that President Joe Biden accepted bribes from a foreign national during his tenure as Vice President.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is under fire for refusing to release files corroborating these claims, further stoking the controversy ahead of the 2024 elections.
According to the whistleblower, Biden’s son, Hunter, also received significant financial payouts from foreign entities in China and Romania during this period.
Republicans, spearheaded by Congressman James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee investigating the Bidens, are pressuring the FBI to unveil the document that contains these explosive allegations.
Comer, who issued a subpoena for the document last week, stated: “The information provided by a whistleblower raises concerns that then-Vice President Biden allegedly engaged in a bribery scheme with a foreign national. The American people need to know if President Biden sold out the United States of America to make money for himself.”
However, the FBI has held its ground, returning the subpoena with a six-page letter outlining their objections. Christopher Dunham, FBI’s acting assistant director for congressional affairs, emphasised the need for confidentiality, especially when it pertains to whistleblower reports.
“Confidential human sources often provide information to the FBI at great risk to themselves and their loved ones,” he wrote, underlining the potential risks involved in divulging such information.
Despite this, Comer and his Republican colleagues continue to decry the FBI’s refusal to cooperate. The FBI’s reluctance comes on the heels of recent criticism from Republican Senator Chuck Grassley, who accused the bureau of mishandling politically charged investigations.
This controversy unfolds as the FBI carries out searches for classified documents linked to Biden’s potential mishandling of sensitive government records. The alleged discovery of classified documents in Biden’s former residence and office has only added fuel to the fire.
