Net Zero Policies Might Lead UK into Dark Ages, Warns Lord Frost

Former Brexit minister calls for a rethink of climate change policies

Lord Frost, former Brexit minister, in his recent speech at the Global Warming Policy Foundation Annual Lecture, criticises the Net Zero climate change policies. He warns that these policies could cause significant harm to the economy, restrict lifestyle, and undermine UK’s global power, especially against threats from countries like Russia and China. The policies, based on medieval technology, force investments in windmills, considered inefficient for power provision due to their intermittent nature.

Lord Frost emphasises that these policies force the purchase of inferior boiler technology and drive people out of the new car market if they are unwilling to invest in electric vehicles. He warns that energy efficiency requirements are constraining house designs and squeezing the housing market, causing harm to the economy and people’s lives.

Despite his concerns, Lord Frost expressed optimism that the government is beginning to reconsider the Net Zero by 2050 policy. He calls for an end to the “miserablist” approach that could seriously harm the economic rationality in the next decade and impact the geopolitical competition of the coming years.

Lord Frost is reportedly planning to leave the House of Lords and run for Parliament as a Conservative Party candidate.
